The Paramedical Areola Tattooing Journey: What to Expect from Start to Finish
When you're considering paramedical areola restoration, knowing what happens at each step makes the whole experience easier. At Lashious Studio in Saskatoon, we guide you through every part of the process with care and expertise. Here's what your journey looks like, from that first conversation to your beautiful final results.
Your Consultation: Where It All Begins
This is where we get to know you and your vision. During your consultation, we'll talk about what you're hoping to achieve and look at what's possible for your unique situation.
We'll discuss color matching (your natural skin tone guides everything), size and placement, and any concerns you might have. This isn't just about tattooing. It's about helping you feel whole again.
If you've had a mastectomy, we understand this is deeply personal. We take time to listen and make sure you feel completely comfortable before moving forward.
Getting Ready for Your Session
Preparation is simple, but it matters. Stay hydrated in the days leading up to your appointment. Your skin takes pigment better when you're well-hydrated. Avoid alcohol and blood thinners for 24 hours before (check with your doctor first if you're on prescribed medications).
Come to your session with clean skin and no lotions or creams on the area. Wear something comfortable that gives us easy access to the treatment area.
We'll have everything ready for you when you arrive. All you need to do is show up.
Treatment Day: Here's What Happens
Your comfort comes first. We start by mapping out the design together, making sure the shape, size, and placement look natural and feel right to you. Nothing happens until you love what you see.
Once you approve the design, we apply a topical numbing cream and let it work for about 20 minutes. Most people find the process surprisingly comfortable.
The actual tattooing takes about two to three hours, depending on whether we're working on one or both sides. We use specialized pigments designed specifically for areola restoration. These pigments are chosen to match your natural coloring and age beautifully with your skin.
Throughout the session, we check in with you. Need a break? Want to adjust something? Just say the word.
Aftercare: Taking Care of Your New Tattoo
The first week matters most for healing. Keep the area clean and dry. We'll send you home with detailed instructions and everything you need.
For the first week you will leave on the clear bandage we’ve applied, to keep your tattoo totally clean and dry. Once you’ve peeled it off, gently cleanse the area once daily with mild soap and pat dry. Apply the healing ointment we provide. Don't pick at any flaking or scabbing. This is normal and part of healing.
Avoid swimming, hot tubs, saunas, and excessive sweating for two weeks. Skip tight bras or anything that rubs against the area. Let your skin breathe and heal.
You'll notice the color looks darker, brighter and warmer at first. Don't worry. This is normal.
The Healing Timeline
Days 1 to 3: The area may feel tender and look darker than expected. This is your body's natural response.
Days 4 to 7: Light flaking or scabbing begins. The color starts to soften. Keep moisturizing and resist the urge to help the flaking along.
Week 2: Most of the initial healing is complete. The color continues to settle and lighten.
Weeks 3 to 4: Your true color emerges. The tattoo softens and starts looking more natural as it integrates with your skin.
5 to 6 Weeks: You're fully healed. This is when we can see the final results and determine if a touch-up is needed.
Your Touch-Up Session
About six to eight weeks after your initial session, we'll see you again. This appointment is included because it's part of the process.
During healing, some areas may fade more than others. Your touch-up lets us perfect the color, add dimension, and make sure everything looks natural. Some people need minimal adjustments. Others benefit from a bit more work. Either way, we make sure you're happy with the results.
Why This Matters for Breast Cancer Survivors
For women who've been through mastectomy and reconstruction, areola tattooing is often the final step in reclaiming their bodies. It's not just about appearance (though that matters). It's about feeling complete again.
We've worked with many breast cancer survivors in Saskatoon, and we understand what this means. That's why we approach every session with care and respect. You're not just another appointment. You're someone who's been through something difficult, and we're honored to be part of your healing.
The Permanent Makeup Connection
If you're already familiar with permanent makeup services like nano brows, you know the power of waking up with features that make you feel put together. Areola tattooing works on the same principle, using similar techniques for a deeply personal purpose.
Just like nano brows enhance your natural beauty and save you time every morning, areola restoration helps you feel confident in your own skin again. Both services use precise, careful work to create results that look natural.
